"Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Barnett" official for San Jose's HP Pavilion on May 19, tickets on sale this week

Strikeforce's May 19 event will mark the organization's return to their former home base in San Jose, Calif., as the card has officially been announced for the city's HP Pavilion.

Headlined by the Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix finals bout between Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett, the card will also feature two Strikeforce rematches. Made official Monday evening were previously reported bouts in Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson III and Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante vs. Mike Kyle II.

Additionally, a welterweight matchup between Bobby Voelker and Nah-Shon Burrell has been added to the card. The event will mark the first Strikeforce event at the HP Pavilion - their former home base - since the organization was purchased by Zuffa last year.

"Strikeforce is coming back to where it all started ? San Jose," Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said. "The Bay Area has some of the best fight fans in the world and we can't wait to get back with an event like this on May 19. With the Heavyweight Grand Prix final between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier, along with Gilbert Melendez's lightweight title defense against longtime rival Josh Thomson, you don't want to miss this card!"

Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday, April 6, with prices ranging from $45-$175. UFC Fight Club members have access to tickets on Thursday from 10AM-12PM PT, and UFC Newsletter and Strikeforce Insider subscribers then have access on Thursday from 12PM PT on.
