Jon Jones Pegged as Odds-On Favorite Over Hendo
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones just defeated Rashad Evans by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 145 and has already been matched up with Dan Henderson for his next title defense. It should come as no surprise that early estimates by oddsmakers have the young dynamo cast as a sizeable favorite to win his next title defense.

Jon Jones finds the one thing he?s not good at (VIDEO)
The people at the Major League Baseball invited UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones to the MLB Fan Cave to give him a chance to chill out and watch some baseball. It turns out that though he's good at most things that he tries, Jones is not good at just sitting on a couch and taking in some sports.
Perhaps that inability to sit still is what helped him rise to the top of his weight class so quickly. Will he continue his reign atop the division, or will he lose his belt to Rashad Evans at UFC 145? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Eduardo Dantas and Alexander Gustafsson were the best of the weekend?s warriors
Eduardo Dantas leads off this week's edition of Weekend Warriors, your Monday morning look at the weekend's MMA. "Dudu" was the star of Bellator's show on Friday, choking Zach Makovsky unconscious in the second round of their title bout. With that win, Dantas became the new Bellator bantamweight champ and one of the hottest lighter weight prospects in MMA.
Marcos Galvao and Luis Nogueira both won their bantamweight semifinal tournament matches with unanimous decisions as they vie for the chance to face off with Dantas. In the featherweight tournament, an emotional Daniel Straus pummeled Mike Corey on the way to a unanimous decision win to earn a spot in the tourney final. Straus' training partner was killed in a car accident just a week ago. Staus will face Marlon Sandro for the featherweight tournament championship on May 11.
Gustafsson impresses in Sweden at UFC on Fuel 2
Alexander Gustafsson cemented his role as a top contender in the light heavyweight division with a convincing decision over Thiago Silva on Saturday. Brian Stann got back to his winning ways with a gentlemanly knockout of Alessio Sakara, and Dennis Siver got his first win at featherweight with a decision over Diego Nunes.
In his UFC debut Siyar Bahadurzada took home a $50,000 Knockout of the Night bonus for his 42-second KO of Paulo Thiago. John Maguire earned a Submission of the Night bonus for his armbar of Damarques Johnson. Brad Pickett and Damacio Page were given Fight of the Night honors for the back-and-forth battle that ended with Pickett finishing Page with a second-round rear naked choke.
Team Faber gets the edge
On "The Ultimate Fighter," Joe Proctor, a protege of UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon, helped Urijah Faber's team take the lead. Proctor took out Chris Tickle with a first-round rear naked choke. John Cofer from Team Faber will face Team Cruz's Vinc Pichel.

Frank Mir will now face Junior dos Santos for the belt at UFC 146
After Alistair Overeem's license was called into question by the Nevada Athletic Commission because of results of a testosterone screening, the UFC has changed the heavyweight bout at UFC 146 on May 26. Now former champion Frank Mir will face current champ Junior dos Santos for the belt. UFC president Dana White tweeted the news on Friday night.
In early April, Overeem's pre-fight random drug test raised red flags with the NAC, who will administer the May fight in Las Vegas. His testosterone levels were well above the approved levels. He is scheduled to to appear before the NAC on Tuesday.
The ongoing question after Overeem's troubles arose was who would replace him on such an important card. This is dos Santos' first title defense since beating Cain Velasquez for the belt in November. Overeem earned the title shot by defeating Brock Lesnar in December.
Though a vocal group of fans pushed for Mark Hunt, who is fighting Stefan Struve at UFC 146, Mir was always the best option. He would not have to change much to prepare for the bout since he was already scheduled to fight Cain Velasquez. Mir won his last three bouts, including a memorable submission of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 140.

Weekend warriors: Eddie Alvarez and Andreas Spang make headlines
Though the weekend was dominated by some title fight in Atlanta, Friday night's Bellator and "The Ultimate Fighter" bouts brought plenty of excitement, both during and after the fights.
At Bellator, Eddie Alvarez made quick work of Shinya Aoki in their rematch, as Aoki had no answer for Alvarez's striking. Aoki's corner threw in the towel seconds before the match was stopped two minutes into the first round.
As shown in the video above, Andreas Spang took out Brian Rogers with a left hook in the second round after Rogers had been winning the bout. Afterwards, Spang gave the crowd in Cleveland two middle fingers and got in a scrap with Maiquel Falcao. Though he expects to be disciplined by the Ohio Athletic Commission, his spot in the middleweight tourney is safe.
He'll face Falcao there after Falcao earned his spot by outlasting Vyacheslav Vasilevsky to a split decision. In the lightweight tournament, Rick Hawn took just a round and 10 seconds to knock out Lloyd Woodard, while Brent Weedman took a split decision from Thiago Michel.
On TUF, Vinc Pichel and John Cofer turned in a three-round decision that was one of the best fights of the season. The first round featured stand-up which could have gone to either fighter, while Pichel's grappling gave him the second. In the third, Pichel got a quick takedown and arm triangle choke to get the win for Team Cruz. On Friday, Sam Sicilia from Team Cruz will fight Team Faber's Chris Saunders.

UFC 150 likely for Aug. 11, gets Dennis Hallman vs. Thiago Tavares

The lightweights are set to meet at the yet-unannounced UFC 150, which is targeted for Aug. 11. Sherdog.com first reported the matchup, and Tavares confirmed it via Twitter.
MMAjunkie.com sources say Denver's Pepsi Center may host the fight card, but nothing has been finalized to date.
Georges St-Pierre anxious for return, says injury layoff affirmed love of fighting
![]() |
However, St-Pierre himself says if the injury has done anything, it's affirmed his love of fighting. At UFC 145 this past weekend cornering several fighters from the Tri-Star gym in Montreal, St-Pierre said he's anxious to get back into the cage as he rehabs from ACL surgery.
"Wherever it is, England, United States, wherever, I'll fight," the UFC Welterweight Champ said in an interview with MMAWeekly.com. "I'm just going to be happy to be back and fight. When you get hurt for a long time you're forced to get pulled away from training, and you're forced to stop doing what you like to do everyday."
"It makes you see things in perspective and I just want to get back. Wherever the fight will be, I will be glad to fight, I'm very anxious to come back."
When he returns, he'll take on Interim Champ Carlos Condit, a fighter affiliated with him through Greg Jackson, in a similar yet different situation as UFC 145's Jon Jones and Rashad Evans. However, the two were never actual training partners, and Jackson will remain neutral as the two prepare to square off.
"I don't lose anything [not having Greg Jackson in my camp] because he?s not going to be in Carlos Condit's corner either," St-Pierre commented.
Penick's Analysis: St-Pierre missing almost this entire year is certainly one of the more disappointing situations for the UFC and for GSP himself this year. Still, the fact that he may have a renewed urge to return as strong as possible is definitely a good sign, and if he continues on his current path of recovery hopefully that's what we can see out of him. He's been one of the very best fighters in the world for so long, now his fans can only hope he'll remain that way for some time.

Dana White says Greg Jackson exploited Jones-Evans situation for money
ATLANTA -- Greg Jackson is, arguably, the greatest active coach in mixed martial arts and responsible for the development of more high-level fighters than any other person. Jackson is an engaging, humble sort who has been heaped with praise for his calm, cool approach.
Jackson has taken a lot of criticism for his handling of the situation with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former champion Rashad Evans. The men will fight on Saturday in the main event of UFC 145 at Philips Arena, a fight neither of them really wants.
Evans blames Jackson. He says he warned Jackson several years ago about bringing Jones into camp at Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque, N.M. Evans was a team leader at the time and took on a role of mentoring Jones, even though he insists he was wary about the relationship because he felt they may have to fight one day.
Jackson insisted it would be all right, and it was, until it wasn't. That came when Jones replaced an injured Evans in a title match last year against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and then said he'd consider a fight against Evans if UFC president Dana White insisted.
Evans left Jackson's at that point and created his own team, The Blackzilians, in Florida. But as tensions heated, Jackson changed his long stance that he wouldn't corner either man and opted to work with Jones against Evans. That, of course, didn't sit well with Evans, who talked about it to the UFC's Jon Anik on Ultimate Insider.
That's the big thing about it. That's why I feel so disrespected. It's like, 'So, now Greg, you're gonna go against me? You're gonna go against me, right? You gonna go against Georges St. Pierre? Oh, OK. You gonna bring in Carlos Condit? He helped make you too. So where does your loyalty lie?' So, if you're gonna go against the people that helped make you, and I was somebody like in Jon's position, I'd be like, 'Man, if he'll go against some people that were with him, to help him get his notoriety, to help him get where he is, then damn, what would he do to me?'
Jackson has taken full responsibility and issued a series of mea culpas. Speaking to MMA Weekly radio, Jackson said he isn't perfect and that the events that transpired were a mistake, not some sort of evil plot.
I always try to take my responsibility in every situation, even if it doesn't go well. There was a protocol thing that I've said before that I said was big, we should have had earlier on, and I think that's directly and 100-percent my fault that we didn't have a plan for when this stuff would happen.I take responsibility on that end of it, for sure. We weren't ready for it. A lot of people had to pay prices for that.
UFC president Dana White has a much different, more blunt take: Jackson did what he did for the money. Jackson, White said, is a businessman who benefits financially from having as many star fighters in his camp as possible.
White wasn't ripping Jackson for trying to make a living, but rather pointing out that fighters shouldn't buy Jackson's "family" approach as sincere. Jackson, White says, is simply doing what he does to make as much money as he can.
"There is one thing that is an absolute fact, and no matter how often Greg Jackson pumps that family [expletive], Greg Jackson is a [expletive] businessman," White told Cagewriter. "The more top guys he brings in, the more money he makes. There's nothing wrong with Greg Jackson, but he's a [expletive] businessman. Some of these fighters, who ought to know better but don't listen to that [expletive] and don't take it for the crock of [expletive] that it is. These guys need to make the decision where they train based on where they think they'll get the best work and develop the best, and not on this [expletive] crazy idea that you're becoming a part of a family.
"Greg Jackson [expletive] told Rashad this wouldn't happen, that they're family and all that other [expletive], but look what is going on now. Look and see who is at Jackson's and who is not. Train where you think it's going to be best for you and if that's Jackson's, that's fine. Just don't buy into this family [expletive] because there's nothing to it. This is the fight business, not the friend business."
